Activities for Kids

Saturday, May 6th

Noon – 5:00 PM, Cheat River Festival Fair Grounds

The 2017 Kid’s Tent theme is “Water Unites Us” – join in the CommUNITY scavenger hunt, group mural, and mascot-making. Like years prior, kid’s activities will include crafts made with recycled materials and acid mine drainage tie dye. The dye for this project is made from acid mine drainage, the pollutant that plagues the Cheat River watershed. The kid’s tent activities will end with a kid’s parade at 4:40 PM.

Cheat River Water Trail Float and Litter Clean-up with Blue Ridge Outdoors and Blackwater Outdoor Adventures
Sunday May 7th, 11:00 AM, Rowlesburg City Park
Wrap up a great weekend at Cheat Fest with a river cleanup! Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine and Blackwater Outdoor Adventures are partnering up again for the second annual post-Cheat Fest river cleanup! BYOB (that’s boat, not booze) and head to the Rowlesburg Town Park Sunday, May 7th, at 11am. BOA will have a limited number of canoes available for the cleanup, so please RSVP in advance by emailing jess@blueridgeoutdoors.com. Gloves and trash bags will be provided, but participants are encouraged to bring snacks, water, and appropriate clothes for getting cold, wet, and dirty. Please wear close-toed shoes and bring a friend! Let’s give back to this river that has given us so much.
